residential care home for the elderly
Situated in a
prime residential area within easy reach of the M5 and M6
motorways, Avondale is situated on the A451 112 mile from
Stourbridge town centre. There is a shop and a pub within
walking distance and regular bus services to both
Kidderminster and Stourbridge are available.
Our aims and
objectives
Avondale strives to be a homely place that aims to provide a
high standard of care, quality of life, independence and
dignity for its residents within a happy relaxed atmosphere.
How we achieve
this
Avondale is a privately owned and family run residential
home for 15 residents, so we care able to offer individual
and personal care in a homely environment. As we are a
relatively small home, we pride ourselves in being able to
offer tailor made care for each resident. This means that we
offer the right level of help needed with walking, dressing,
washing etc that is required. We understand that everyone's
needs differ, and so we create an individual care plan with
each resident on admission. This is regularly reviewed to
ensure that the correct level of assistance is always
received.
In any help we offer, we encourage residents to be
independent as much as they can and we support self
medication wherever possible.
Services and
Facilities on offer
All rooms at Avondale are single. All rooms have private
washing facilities and 10 of the 15 rooms offer private
toilet facilities. Rooms are located either on the ground or
first floor and first floor rooms are accessed via a shaft
lift, so there are no stairs to negotiate. Residents can
have either a bath or a shower at Avondale, a shower room is
available where residents can sit down to shower and a power
assisted bath is installed.
There are 2 communal lounges at Avondale and a separate
dining room. Avondale ensure that home cooked meals, sweets,
desserts and cakes are freshly prepared daily. Meals can be
taken in the dining room at specific meal times, or room
service is available as an alternative.

Residents are
free to choose the time they would like breakfast and can
choose anything from a traditional cooked breakfast, cereals
toast with preserves, porridge or fruit. Lunchtime meals are
a set menu, however special diets, likes and dislikes are
always catered for and an alternative cooked as required.
Evening tea consists of a choice of light meals and a sweet.
In addition to these meals, mid morning and mid afternoon
tea breaks with biscuits and or cakes are served each day,
and residents can order other drinks or snacks at any other
time of the day or night.

All of our
staff are well-trained with certificates for in-house and
external accredited courses. Many hold professional care
